Nice. What is the cost on the new block and what's the weight difference?

I got it for $100 from my cousin. He was going to build it up for his Cobra, but then he sold the car.
The stock iron block should be 153#. I'll actual weight it when its stripped.
The aluminum one is 79#. I have to weight that too. But I can pick it up and move it around my garage.

Getting stuff done.
Next step is to order new rings and a LH chain tensioner, and we'll be in business. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait until Tuesday to weigh the blocks. I don't have the time until then.
I also installed a new H-pipe and mufflers, so I no longer have that massive exhaust leak that was murdering my mileage.
Should be back on track now.

Did you replace with oem for the exhaust pieces or go aftermarket?

H-pipe is OEM. Mufflers are Thrush Turbos.
Again.

I weighed the bare iron block today.
148.6 Lbs
The aluminum block?
74.4 lbs.
Thats a 74.2 lbs reduction.
Now that I've honed the cylinder walls and drilled out the extra coolant passage that was needed for the drivers side head, I can start assembling tomorrow.
I installed new rings on the pistons and can't wait to get this going!

Wow, that should be a noticeable difference!
I've been following along for a while, being another die hard V8 guy myself. Great stuff so far, stay at it!
On a side note I picked up some pre- 2001 16x7 P71 wheels for my Mark VII and I was shocked at how heavy they are!
