Sir,
When the whole cluster is complete, I shall offer visual showings of said project.
I have to acquire another vacuum gauge. I was slacking and lost the bid.
It should be done shorlty. After I powder coat TurnpikeCruiser's wheels.
So week after next-ish.

First fill up.
20.6 mpg.
That's my normal driving. City, country roads, highways, me being late for hockey, getting stuck in a 45 minute traffic jam, and other non-efficient driving habits.
I've filled up and have already implemented the hypermiling techniques. Coasting, P&G, (both with engine on). The only EOC I do is on the way home at midnight when there's really no one on the road.
But I'm looking forward to the numbers from just doing the hypermiling. Then I'll know how much of an increase I'll get from the mods.
It's going to be a while before I get my next numbers though. I have fly to Albuqurque for all next week. But unitl then, I can work on the guage pod and probably plan a tune up after next tank.
This will include:
- plugs
- oil change
- fuel filter
- air filter
- coolant flush
- alignment
And then we'll go from there.
By the way, the 28.5 mpg best I have wass highway driving.
Until next time...

That 20 mpg sounds like a good baseline #. Before discovering this site that is what I avged in my Lincoln, in what you described(for driving conditions). Intrested to see what you can accomplish

Boy, I am sure going to miss the sound of that exhaust at full tilt. And yes, it leaks oil.
(BTW, autoembed = way freaking cool)
I guess I should clean out the 4 rims in the trunk and the rest of the car tomorrow. Since I'm "going the distance"

Ok, I've driven 50 miles since the fill up and implementing the hypermiling tactics.
My fuel gauge needle is just starting to come into view. In city driving, it usually comes around between 35-40 miles. On the highway, it usually comes into veiw between 45-60 miles (depending on speed).
I'm already seeing the benefits of hypermiling a tank. The P&G is no joke. It seriously helps.
It's so much fun! Trying to time lights, turns, traffic, EOC's. Good times. I may just have to top-off on Sunday to get a reading!
Bought the E3 spark plugs today and a Stant SuperStat 195* thermostat. The plugs will wait until after this tank-ish. I still have to buy MSD wires and a new filter.
This all will have to wait until after the 26th, because that's when I get my sweet discount code/coupon.

20-and-change sounds like my Impala SS - a relatively comparable car.

Went to the junkyard today.
WIN. Victory.
I needed sway bar bushing mount clips. I ended up breaking all four. Poop.
But not all is lost;
But when they put the car up on the lift, I noticed something awesome:
Front skid plate. Stock.
I've never seen one in my many years of Panthering. So......
It mounts on the radiator support and the cross member. And it has two vents to draw air from the radiator.
Sweet.

Would appreciate more about the skid plate (as trucks may be able to use a similar piece); mainly, distance to rear of plate from radiator (thinking about air flow ar/near idle while stopped. Once mounted, what is distance or relation of radiator fan shrouding from plate. Any other dimensions or insights appreciated.
Really great find!! I'd really be pumped on this one!

I'll mock it up and post dimensions tomorrow evening. I have to bring the Tank into the garage and fix the T-stat and some other things.
If someone could use this on their, vehicle, the better! Especially since there are so many of these at the junkyard; it would be an easy to acquire.

Ordered the 3 gauge pillar pod thing today. It was very cheap. But I want to see the quality first hand before I make my final decision.
I am going to pick up my vacuum gauge today as well.
So after I get back from Albuqurque next week, I can start on installing the gauges.
