I was talking about the Probe, broseph

The fuel pump got delivered to home in MN instead of school. DERP. Should have it early next week. Depending on how much time it takes it could be fixed by this time next week...

The Metro Limo automatically gets better MPG, if you use ton-miles per gallon.

I think with high school proms coming up he could make his money back in one night.

Besides, that car has got to be a serious chick magnet.

This is my dream limo, I would have the longest Thing around.

Hehe, "thing". I can only imagine the ladies would be lining up to get a ride in the Metro Sexual. Part of me is actually hoping the Probe has to go so I can have that limo. Then again switching out of the Probe would be a pain in the butt.

So, I've been thinking about a boattail. The issue is the top airflow. The rear of the car has a little notch and lip. You can see it here.

IMG_4459 by Tyler Linner, on Flickr

The question is: when building a boattail should I treat this area any different than a normal hatchback, or will the beginning of the boattail, coming off the lip, have to respect some aero effects of the lip? I ask this in case the lip acts as a spoiler, and if putting something behind it will somehow disrupt it. I can tuft test this later but thought I'd ask now to have a little thinking/planning time.

(The rear of the car has attached flow all the way until said lip. I plan on extending the sides and bottom as well, perhaps two feet or so, to create an open ended partial boattail.)

this might be crazy but maybe make a new trunk lid that is sloped to continue down from the glass?

I can't really do that as the latch is in there and the quarter panels of the car will still stick up. Any feedback on the spoiler thing?

(fuel pump came in today... just a matter of finding the time)

Spoiler thing: the standard thinking applies - you want to curve off that plane gradually. In other words, don't just pretend it's not there and continue the line of the rear glass where it would have "exited" the back of the car. Is that what you mean?
