HF's are 8V correct? So if it has an 8V it's at least swapped to HF spec

I asked him and said it was an HF. When you drive it, you'll know, first gear is like starting out in 2nd gear. there are 2 final ratios for the HF, 3.25, California model and 2.95, 49 state model. Its a big jump to second 3,4 and 5 are close. 49 state model should be at 1894 RPM at 65 mph with 175/70R14 tires. I had 165/80R15 tires on for a short while.

Hah! I thought those looked like 14's. We shall see... if it really is an HF I'll be super happy.

8 valve, yes. It also has the little tiny intake straw, so it certainly looks like an HF.

That's not the actual car... I just want to know for sure when I go look at it.
Excited to go see this. I wanted to go on Friday but my Honda friend is out of town for the weekend killing animals in the woods. Bringing him along for advice because I'm not up on Honda stuff.
If this thing's decent I think it would be worth it to pay a little more and keep it for a few years. It would save me a lot of money on leasing a Volt. Until certain other cars are revealed!

Just buy it. It needs some brake work.

That car was a raving piece of **** barely worth scrap value. Yes, it was an HF with 149,000 miles. All unlisted in the ad, though, were its smashed rear window, hanging down exhaust, bumper held on by wood screws, mismatched seats, black engine oil, missing pillar trim, lack of a radio deck... and the clincher... even though it's "running and driving" it cannot be driven home due the brakes needing to be bled... and the guy (who wasn't the owner- he was out of town) couldn't even find the keys.
He was asking $900. He had already turned down a previous offer of $600. If it were summer and I had some time to blow I may have offered $300. Will edit in pics later.
Oh and on the way back we spotted a (RWD) Datsun B310 wagon on black mags sitting in some farm house driveway. Stopped by, knocked on the door, nothing. It was an auto though, at which point I lost interest.

Sounds about like the shape my corolla was in. It was listed for $600, and it costed me $650 to jump in front of the line (after I drove ~1.5 hours to look at a trashed camry which was in the area). The car needed ~$500 in parts including struts all around (need to do fronts STILL), alignment WAY off (steering was about 1/2 turn off), good tread, but dry rotted tires, 219k miles on the car (didn't bother me really), oh and the driver's seat belt didn't work, had to break it and tie it on to "wear" it (first thing I fixed when I got home).
After some cheap struts from ebay, cheap discount tires, alignment, and driving ~8 months, the fuel savings paid for the orig $650 investment (see my fuel log, my Camry got 27mpg, corolla epa is 26 combined).
That HF sounds like the perfect (if you can get it CHEAP) car to areo mod... poor shape cars tend to do that, nice cars make it harder to do since it has a value yet.
Anyway, good luck finding another car! Would love to see another areo build thread of yours and get something in the 60s for mpg .
