Project: Dream CRX

Nah, vegan powa! is not going to be renamed "Dream CRX," but I guess getting the images of my new engine is a good enough reason to start up the official project report on it.

Go will be something over 60 MPG, which should be easy, right? However, I'm pretty pessimistic.

Anyway, pictures just sent from JDM Source, the engine supplier:

Who's got an EGR box for me?

Good thing the Japanese are so automotively wasteful, so that us North Americans can benefit from all their low mileage used stuff! That motor looks neat & tidy.

They're not wasteful...if they put 30k on an engine in 12 years, I'd say they're driving very little compared to us.

Nice looking engine. 30k miles in 12 years means their cars should last 60 years, easy...

Have you thought about losing the a/c compressor and alternator to shoot for 70+mpg?

That is a nice looking motor, hopefully I'll have a twin soon. Is that the LAF in the top of the manifold/converter?

I've never had the a/c (working, at least), plan on keeping the alternator. The engine is gonna come with lotsa extras.

@reformed - That is indeed the LAF there.

looking good I'd like to get a CRX except here they are all rusty, or expensive, or running large VTEC fuel-hungry engines

Shipping punks actually want 115$ to unload the engine, so I'm going to delay shipment and get it with a few friends when I'm back from college. Stay tuned for updates!

If you were running SVO, it really would be a true vegan

( Then you could get that bumper sticker that says " My car is a vegan " )

Too bad we can't convert gas engines like that.
