Somebody should stick their smoke probe right up in the wheelwell. I wonder what you'd learn.

And on that last chart, it's amusing to see the VW Beetle and the XKE right next to each other, considering fineness ratio and everything.

I'm wondering two things right now; is it because of the front mounted radiator on the Jag? Or is this chart inaccurate?

Maybe it's because the Jag E-type has a front mounted engine and the underside is messing everything up and the VW Beetle motor is at the back, having a flatter underside.

I think that I read recently that the air going under the car accounts for 1/3 of the total drag. Therefore I'm going to say; you have the right idea.

The tufts are sticking in places I just did not expect (see lower engine lid).

The wheelbase on the 911 was increased a couple of inches after the first five years. I suspect this is the shorter wheelbase car introduced in the autumn of 1963.
