Well, you should see the traffic here in what should be Bum****, Egypt. Either people are on a tearing around spree, or some speed got into the city water supply (unfortunately I have a well). As far as most people reducing fuel usage, that's going to hard for them in their full size PUs and SUVs, which are still flying off the lots.

Down to $3.96 hereabouts. ($4.08 is the highest I noticed at the convenience store I pass a couple times a week.) Had to put another $20 worth in the Insight today, which was a bummer, as I didn't even make it quite 3 weeks this time - I'd been going about a month per $20 since the beginning of the year.

It may also be a ratchet system too - when it comes down it doesn't come down quite as far as before but people get used to it - it is less of a shock.
And then you wonder about the days when a litre of Diesel was 75% of what it is now.
Which was only 24months ago
But then you factor in the 200 miles extra you get a tank

More like a start at $3, a shock to $4+, then it falls back to $3.25. Then repeat and end at $3.50, $3.75, $4.00 and so on. In 1990 I could fill my then car for £20. Last weekend it cost me £72.
Note - figures off top of head.

I once saw how the villain of some cartoon "evenly" divided the loot with his buddy:
"One for you, one for me,
Two for you, one two for me,
Three for you, one two three for me,
..."

Looks like we are going to have to put that 100mpg combined vehicle faster than expected.

$3.52 around Tulsa, OK couple days ago. Headed back up towards Joplin to try to help out. I moved from joplin 2 years ago, my old home and workplace are destroyed.
Glad to see gas prices down a bit. $4.19 in IL a couple weeks ago was steep.

100% profit? Let's see: Deep ocean drilling rig, $500 million + $1 million/day operating costs. Large oil tanker, $120 million. Oil pipeline, several million per mile (depending on size, terrain, etc). Oil refinery, maybe $2.5 billion...
PS: Anyone else notice the annoying ad that asks how much I'd save if my car got 60 mpg? It'd cost me money, 'cause mine has averaged 71.2 mpg over the nearly 8 years and 100K miles I've owned it.

I just get the ones about 'singles'.
Now considering I have contributed several times to EM I kind of thought I would be in the 'get rid of these annoying ads' group.
