Yah, it is about time these practices were questioned. It is especially interesting that praying seems to have the opposite effect on the faithful, I think it is important to understand what is really going on in this and any situation.

I never said I didn't. I was merely challenging the statement "It's working" with an actual study done on the subject. This isn't the wwjd forum so get over yourself.

Yes, and I would add Duh. However it is not necessarily "decent" to use a misfortune to proselytize or spread potential misinformation.

How is it remotely decent to tell people of differing opinion to stay quiet? People of faith do not corner the market on hope however. There is plenty to be hopeful for, the guy is breathing on his own for extended periods, he is well attended, he has made it this far, seems to have his faculties. I'm very optimistic about his chances.

Ford Man, lots of folks have been close to people in similar situations, you are not alone. Please don't let my quirks interfere with any updates you wish to post, I would be grateful to hear how things are going, and give your brother some "no strings attached" optimism for me

We just returned from the hospital about a 1/2 hour ago. This morning he was running a fever of 103.5, but the fever has broke and all is well there. It's my understanding that they took him back off the ventilator this morning and he's been able to breath fully on his own today. I ask him this afternoon if he was feeling any better and he responded no by shaking his head. I think the swelling is starting to go down a little bit. Please continue the prayers.

Someone that saw the cow told my sister in law that it probably weighed between 1200-1400 pounds and a friend of mine that saw it estimated 1000 pounds. Regardless of weight it was a huge animal.

I haven't updated the condition of my brother lately, partly because I've been sick for the last few days and wasn't going to go see him and possibly make him sick. I did go see him this afternoon which was the first time I'd seen him since last Saturday. When I went in they had him up sitting in a chair in his room, he said he'd been sitting up for about 3 hours and that this was the first day since his accident that he had felt good all day. He looked much better than he did a week ago, with nearly all the swelling on the left side of his face gone. He's now able to talk to us instead of having to write notes, he's able to fully open his left eye, partially open his right eye and they started feeding him soft foods and liquids today. If this isn't enough good news tomorrow he goes to rehab. He doesn't know yet how long he'll be in rehab, but they are saying probably not very long. He's hoping for a week and that might be about right. I think they are just going to have him in rehab to help him regain his strength from the accident and just lying around for the past 2 weeks.

This isn't a "question OP's faith" forum either. Anyway, obviously you are a troll. So go ahead a debate with yourself.

I'm glad to see God moving with the power of prayers with your brother, I'll keep him in mind when I pray.

With due respect, that goes for both/all sides. Thanks.

This.

Arguing back and forth about the issue in this thread was probably the most disrespectful thing of all.

Ford Man - clearly, w can equate your brother to the 514k mile Escort... He just ain't ready to give up. Wish him well for me, please.

My sister in law called my mom last night after they got Terry into the rehab center and told her they were talking like he might be there 3-4 weeks. She said Terry told them he didn't think he could stand more than another week. I think he's getting tired of laying around doing nothing, because several days ago he told his wife he was ready to get busy doing something.

That kind of attitude can work both ways...often, a person knows when he's "ready"... And often, he does not. Best to watch his progress and judge from there. Extra help (the right kind) can't hurt, eh?

I'm sure they will keep him there and he will be willing to stay as long as needed. I think he just wants to get back home more than anything. Since he's in rehab now, his granddaughter who he thinks the world of will be able to come see him, I think this will help him considerably.
