You can stuff most bikes in the back of a CRX but taking a wheel off makes it easier. Might make your passenger uncomfortable.

My recommendation would be a bike hitch.

Awesome; thanks!

I am trying to get a hold of a local CRX for a few minutes so I can see for myself how much room there is (or isn't)... just to kind of feel it out. But it's good to hear that it's possible.

Maybe it would be possible to build a removable boat tail to hold the bike wheels, while the frame can go inside the car. I don't want to leave anything in the airstream.

I was actually looking for a CRX when I found my Insight. The CRX has a fair amount more hatch space, as it's both a bit wider and significantly deeper (no batteries). There are even conversions for it to add backseats.

Helps if you slide the passenger seat all the way forward. Some pictures to help give you some ideas:

Yeah, with the seat delete that shouldn't be a problem at all! What are these baskets you speak of? I would never do a roof basket on an aero car like that, but if it hung off the back like those hunting racks it might be useful.

EDIT

For some reason I read "backseats" as "baskets", and forgot CRX's are 2 seaters so I redact the above confusion.

Back seats.

Nor would I.

Ah.

Good food for thought here. Thanks for the insight!

2. No flapper over the HVAC intake

So he slapped some fiberglass over the hole with questionable results and I need to find a flapper at the junk yard.

Once again, I'm thinking this car may not be worth putting money into. I don't want to have to get this windshield taken out to get the rust fixed, but I don't want to have to deal with a wet interior anymore either.

I need to get out of this apartment and into a house with a garage. Then I can buy either a VX or HF, restore it and have something worthy of my money and time. Found a clean running HF for $3k in Colorado, so they're not expensive. What's an engine rebuild run for VTEC-e? Does anyone know whether a bicycle will fit in the back of a CRX?

PS- Drove to Petosky for Thanksgiving week and had no issues. Car works great. I need to tabulate my recent MPG and post up.
In my CRX the back has a LOT more room when I took out the spare, but I think it'll fit but maybe not comfortably. I've fit a friends bike in the back before, we had to wiggle it in with both tires on the bike but with one tire off it fit much better. If you are going to look at an HF take a look at this CRX Community Forum • View topic - 88-91 USDM Crx Differences because there are sellers that know there are buyers looking for HF's and will change out some parts to make it look like an HF.

Awesome list there. Looks like I'll be searching for an '88-89, because I cannot stand door mounted seat belts. The Probe had them and I cursed every time.

I have been neglecting my fuel log due to waiting a long time between fills. Finally started a log in a little book that I'll keep in the car. My recent tank from Ithaca, MI to Flint, MI netted 40.6mpg with snow tires, a passenger and cargo.

Yesterday I came home, went out to my car to get the fuel receipts out and found out someone had gotten into it (I had forgotten to lock the door), stolen the ECU, cut the zip ties (lol) holding the ignition to the steering column, and popped the hood. Due to my light bar they couldn't get their fat fingers in and open the hood, so it stayed popped.

If you're reading this, theif, you're a freaking idiot.

I sourced a new ECU and in a few hours moved the car to a different location.

EDIT: Yes, I did get a police officer out there and made an official report. Apparently there have been a lot of break-ins lately.

^^Yeah, the ECU. I have no radio nor speakers in it, and they couldn't get the hood open.

aerohead kindly sent me a couple anti-drag stickers a few weeks ago, so I put one on the grille block before the trip. It sadly fell off somewhere near Flint, MI.

Here it is before, and you can see the light bar. Full winter mode.

Anyway, I put in a P06 computer and have a CEL now. Smells rich. I'm going to have to investigate at some point. Car's not easily accessible anymore, though.
