Restoring power to an old engine (maybe some economy too)
I stumbled across this last night. They work at restoring power to an old engine. Some of this (like the new plugs and wires) would translate to better economy too. I was also surprised to see the snake oil work so well.

They mentioned testing it eight times and taking the highest figure, did they do that before making any changes, and then after each one? I would not have thought taking the highest figure was scientific, but they were consistent with it, right?

They're not telling us what fuel is in the system. It may also be likely that the cleaner is an octane booster.
Also, they should have done the air filter and oil separately. As far as many of us know, a clean air filter won't do jack for extra power.

If you look up Redex fuel additive it is a detergent and not an octane booster.
Also a clean air filter will increase power on a gasoline engine because it allows more fuel/air mixture into the cylinders.

If you want to restore power to an old engine, pull the intake manifold and clean it and the back of the intake valves. The ability of a dirty air filter to restrict flow pales in comparison to coked up intake valves.

Did you see the leaves in the airbox? Leaves don't flow well when pressed up against a filter.
