Meanwhile on the other coast California is (allegedly) heading into a 50-year drought that will leave it looking like the Sahara.

Chaos! Puppies and kittens living together, etc.

It's shirtless weather now in Oregon, in February. Strange for this time of year, and we don't have much snow.

This has nothing to do with the discussion on GW, but I thought I'd contribute the strange local weather the PNW has been experiencing.

33 years ago I remember when it got warmer in Anchorage, Alaska that the low temperature in Key West, Florida. It stayed cold enough, for long enough, for the ocean water temp to drop to a few degrees above the point where the coral reefs would start dying. Reefs that had been there for millions of years.

Does anyone realize that the above statement is a big lie?

A few minutes with Google finds annual CO2 release numbers:
ALL volcanic activity: 200 million tons.
Burning fossil fuels: 26.8 billion tons (2003)

Source: Which produces more CO2, volcanic or human activity?

Or
Quote:
Global estimates of the annual present-day CO2 output of the Earth’s degassing subaerial and submarine volcanoes range from 0.13 to 0.44 billion metric tons (gigatons) per year [Gerlach, 1991; Allard, 1992; Varekamp et al., 1992; Sano and Williams, 1996; Marty and Tolstikhin, 1998]; the preferred global estimates of the authors of these studies range from 0.15 to 0.26 gigaton per year.

Suspicious0bservers' Todays News (Suspicious0bservers - Climate Change | Space Weather | Sun Activity) has reported the same thing in the last 30 days.

Over the years, I've come to expect a few 60° days in January. We had at least one this year. Then it settles into that monotonous gray overcast that drives the Californians back home. I always say the month is called May because it may be nice and it may not.

Excuse me as I go hide under a rock!

Sorry that info was from research I did for a paper 4+ years back, so I don't even remember what I based it on (somebody put me in the corral!)
