Grille Blocks

Been thinking that now i've found a good base line of 57-58 MPGuk I should actually start modding the car.

First thing I'm planning is the grille block, rather than the tank-tape special i did on the last polo - I was thinking of using the clear Plastic from 2 litre fizzy drink bottle. Any one used it before??

Anyway, pics will be posted!

yes....



I think the oriinal equipment battery has turned its last. Its been sluggish to start to start and when we left it while on holiday it didn't play, only just turned a couple of days later in the airport carpark after a work trip.

the cells are correct to level, but the plates, on inspection, are split and warped. time to buy a fresh one.

although the lack of current draw seems to behelping the mileage!!!

WHat about dropping the size of the battery slightly- I seem to remember the PD's I've had in the past had 600+CCA batteries, surely something slightly smaller would still be sufficient, and have less draw?

just had a new 500CCA rebranded vatra one fitted (064)- they even came to my work to do it! better than begging for electricity at end-of-shift!

is that smaller than the original one?
I wonder whats the smallest that you could get away with, say having 400cca in summer, and 500 in winter..

I think thats the smallest I want to get away with, I have OCD when it comes to redundancy in critical systems!

I've been thinking of a remote charge circuit disconnect switch, placed in one of the many blanks in my dashboard. when I'm on the motorway I can simple cut the circuit and therefore the edy load on the engine

you have an rac card to cope with that

sounds like a plan re the cutout-do you know how long the battery will support full load with no charging?

Looks not a bad old beast.. Engine bay could do with a wee tidy- always nicer to work on a clean engine!

Looks fairly simple to re position the air intake for a partial or full Warm intake?

Any grill pics?

A warm air intake on a diesel reduces fuel economy as well as power and increases NOx emissions. No body benefits from a warm air intake on a diesel
