Kind of a Good news - Bad news weekend.

Good news - service done fresh filters and clean oil onboard!

Bad news - found a fuel leak on the 'leak off' pipes on injectors 1 and 2

going to see if my friendly Halfords carries them....doubt it but worth a try

On test run to check bodged fix it got worse so did the honourable thing and called the RAC - took less than 5mins, parts were on the van. done and dusted and no charge! he also said itmay cure any flat spots now that there won't be any air in the system.

hope so!

because I did a water drain on the fuel filter as part of the service, then had to bleed out the system AND then had a fuel leak the latest tank has only managed a pilthingly 53.9MPGuk

Fresh tank now - I'm confident of a long run this time!

The spill pipes are little braided vacuum pipes between the injectors that carry fuel back to the tank return, no real pressure in the system but they still put out a far bit of juice under load....

53.9 uk is pretty damn good for that lump- they need trashing to get anywhere

WHat is the duty cycle on the injectors?

I know that on the pug 405 you could put non TD injectors into a TD to increase fuelling and power...

would the reverse work?

IE a TDI injector into your Non TDi?

No sure but a will look into it - its only a matter of getting out my trust 26mm deep socket and a 17mm spanner to change 'em and then return them for a bit of a-b-a testing.

need to throw some inj cleaner at my jets anyway because i forgot to do it as part of my service - thanks for the reminder

if they are bosch injectors you should be able to get a table of flow rates off the net. It'd be interesting to see what the difference in rates is.

Have you looked at ultrasonic cleaning for the injectors?relatively cheap compared to new injectors
