SC1 Lives! I replaced the rusted engine cradle outside in single digit temperatures. I have only 4 exhaust studs left to install, and some straps for the radiator. The worst was the bolt retainer nuts spinning inside the frame, I had to grind the bolt heads off. The new cradle has copious amounts of undercoating. A 4 foot chunk of belly pan is now missing, I had to cut out for access. I am considering a replacement for sc1, maybe a last model Celica gt with a Corolla 5 speed transmission. I looked at cars in the junkyard when extracting the new cradle, Celicas brakes are monstrous compared to sc1's puny disks. SC1 brakes have always been a weak point. I like the Celica's hatch back, I could almsot fit my bike inside. Cruising at 65, sc1 1.9L is at 2220 (4.025 final and .605 fifth ratio) rpm, where the 1.8L VVT Celica with Corolla trans(3.722 final with .725 fifth ratio), would be at 2435 rpm. They weigh about the same, and have the same tire size, 195/60R15. I've found that Toyotas are pita to work on.
I want to finish it up before before the weather turns sub-zero this afternoon.

I'll have to make it out your way one of these days.
I am trying SWB, smaller, lighter, more maneuverable. Nose over LWB front wheel moves CP forward, in theory, hasn't been tested yet in cross winds.

Well the sc1 is stalling and bogging, especially when cold. I ordered a new fuel filter for it, and I hope its not the fuel pump. I changed out the PCM, but it didn't help.
I want to change out the rack and pinion, its always been sticky and now there is significant play. I'll get one from sc2 in the junk yard preferably 1995 or earlier.
The new 195/65R15 tires are leaking down, I need to spray the seat with soapy water to find the leaks.

Have you checked the intake manifold gasket? There was a batch of them installed wrong (stupid robots!) and they leak. My sister's ran great until over 100,000 miles (no idea how - gasket was a mess) and it started setting lean codes. New gasket, back in business.
