WOW! I have an 04 Cavalier almost same vehicle as you. Good to see that mileage is obtainable with just aero mods.

Thanx for the good info.

Oldmobile aerotech longtail

I am going to clean up this mess under the car, sc1 aeromod underbody:

The yellow chloroplast had become brittle in 3 years. The white is still good after 7 years. The two engine cooing vents are shown. Some of the belly pan on the left was removed for gas line cooling. Sticks and stalks get stuck in the vents when reversing in the field. You can see where its melted at the converter.

... New coroplast in place, engine vented to inside of front tires, in the clearance holes. Bungees safely underneath.

Can you post a side view image of the full car ?
Also, when are you going to test the top and sides of the 'tail ?

I just found the thread.

It looks like the tail does a convex to concave transition to accommodate the taillights. I like that.

Cut that Oldmobile aerotech longtail off at the rear axle centerline and you have the design of the car in my Profile Picture. It would have a pontoon around the engine case with the cylinders and heads in the airflow. The lack of boattail was due to my thinking in the 1990s. How much weight would you estimate you added so far from the center of gravity?

Ready for the fox hunt.

Boat tail Weight:

40' tubing (could have gotten away with 30') 2.9 lbs each
3 panels coroplast (probably 2.3 sheets on the tail, rest scrap) 4 lbs each
9' steel wire 1/8 dia (maybe not needed) .5 lb
36' 14 gauge wire (could have used 20' of 16 gauge) .5
4 trailer lights .5

2.9*40+4*2.3+.5*3= 23 lbs

Cd: picture

Video of tuff testing didn't turn out well... uploading to Youtube

That looks great.

I'm sure the car slips through the wind like a hot knife through butter.

( Looks like the tufts should have been black so you could see them against the silver.)

P.S. Your Avatar needs an update

thanks for the tuft video, I know you know its bad, but I cannot see the tufts enough to comment on flow.

you said you have a magnet mount for your ham antenna, can you mount a camera on that and put that on your car/ chase car?

we need to have another boat tail meet up/ induction ceremony. you and Sven7 need proper group shots with the rest of us
