Sweet wheel skirts, digging the dead simple design. And the GM aero 2000.... so... beautiful... :') *sniff*

Drove to work and back with one skirt one. Parked with wheels turned and the plastic took a set. The PVC shower liner gets brittle in the cold and will shatter on impact.

Whole car:

Close up of fender skirt, notice the spray near the wheel rim.

The unfinished side for comparison. Much more spray on this side of car. Just this tubing reduces spray some what.

This is his thread. It's just that all the mods are on one thread.

Spotter, you don't have to quote all the images, in fact you didn't need to quote any thing, theres a delete button.

The bungie cords need to be at 45 degrees, that way they put the skirt in tension and pull it against the fender, otherwise they get caught up in the corner and can rub on the tire tread if normal to the fender.

Not sure if I'll get to the other side tonight, have to plow the driveway out.

I made a right side front skirt and attached it, its about an inch longer that the left side. I hot glued a block of EPS at the wheel center to space out a little.

Thumbs up Nice, I've got an '01 SC2 looking to do similar

I've been a lurker for a while and must say there is some great info on here. I especially find this thread interesting as I have an '01 SC2 and have been flirting with the idea of modding it. I've averaged 35mpg with a 90 mile daily commute, half at interstate speeds. That said, I've maxed it out at 40mpg with NO mods except me driving like an old lady through a tank of gas. It's the 5 speed and I'm wanting to do the 5th gear swap to the sc1 gear, just yet to find the time.

Anyway, back to your car, are you seeing any gains from what you have done thus far? I like the simplistic design of the skirts and will be doing this I believe.

I wish I could do a boat tail type set up, but not sure if that is possible on these cars without extensive mods.

Jasper

I'm really intrigued by your front wheel skirt design.
I'd like to possibly copy it if you don't mind.
From what I understand from your comments, the skirt is simply a piece of PVC shower liner cut to shape and zip tied to a piece of tubing that is screwed to the inner fender along with a couple of bungee cords on the bottom to snap it back into position.

What do you have on the inside of the skirt where the tire rubs ?

Also, I notice the curvature of the skirt around the bottom. Do you have a support there to hold it in this shape ?
( Can you please take a picture of the back side of the skirt ? )
