What's the latest with this project ?
I'm still impressed with the simplicity of the front skirt idea.

Since the skirts are shower liner material, I was wondering about if they flap in the breeze as you drive sine the material is so flexible.

The bungee cords keep it from flapping, but if one gets loose, then watch out! I drove through a harvested corn field last fall and the corn stumps ripped off the bungee cords and when I got on the highway they flew off. I put a half skirt back on one side so far.

Such a simple solution to what is usually a complex area.
The thing I like most about your skirts are that they don't add any frontal area.
I'd like to copy your idea someday.

What other mods have you done to the car lately ?

Little subtle style elements like the shape of the front turn signal lights, as well as the rear styling of the car never made it with the EV-1. The character line on the back end of the car above the tail lights really made the back of the Impact more attractive than the EV-1, and the way that the tail lights met up with the body line made the car appear less bulbous. Even the body colored roof looked better than the blacked out version on the EV-1 which seemed to emphasize the jelly bean look.
The bumper opening even looks good on the Impact versus the EV-1 bumper which ended up looking like a pair of swollen lips.
Personally, i love the look of the Impact.

Congrats on the CRX. I certainly jealous !
I had no idea that there were so many differences.

Thanks for posting.

Why?

I liked the way the covers opened up at full turn (with black material). Reminded me of the wheel well venting you see on race cars.

I haven't made any mods lately, I want to out the front skirts back on, but use a tougher material, the PVC shower liner rips easily, HDPE sheet would be good. I drive the car only once a week and cycle to work and back.

Arcosine -
Did you do any testing before removing your rear spoiler? Or know if there are any interactions between the belly pan and the spoiler?

NO, I consider the spoiler completely architectural. Spoiler is on top belly pan on bottom, hope they would never meet! I did consider mounting the spoiler lower, in back of the trunk lid.

I just orders some HDPE sheet for the new front skirts, I'll report the installation.

The only(?) difference between the SC1 and the SC2 is the spoiler, so that might be related to the Cd difference :

cfg83-
i'm having my doubts if that chart is correct, a few years ago i remember seeing another sc car (dont recall whose) getting some impressive numbers. they hadn't done testing either, just thought it'd be better w/o the spoiler. i'd seen that chart then and so just didnt worry about it. now heres another (arcosine) sc1 putting up good numbers w/o a spoiler.

so i did some testing... well, my results are dirty / sloppy at best due to traffic. measuring with a sg2, at 70mph i averaged 2.86% better mileage w/o the spoiler. looking for a way to skew the results for the spoiler, if i look at only my southbound runs i still averaged 1.08% better mileage w/o the spoiler.

because of traffic, i need to retest under better circumstances, but at this point i would be surprised if it came out any worse than a wash for removing the spoiler.

i had thought that the portions of the spoiler extending over the fenders must cause drag, but figured that the spoiler would be a benefit, basically extending the trunk lid. now i'm thinking the best case scenario is going to either be no spoiler, or a narrower spoiler.

sorry to invade the thread, but it is 'sc1 aero' still
