Is this a Scam????

So there is no Bryan or Brian Coday that I could dig up. Figured I'd shoot the guy an e-mail if he existed and let him know somebody was interested in buying his car. Not 100% conclusive, as I didn't dig super hard...but I'm pretty darn sure that this is a major scam.

Too bad that there are terrible people out there that make a living trying to prey on other folks.

When I had my DDOS network set up, and people would post **** like this, they would have a very, very bad time.

If you post a car for sale on Craigslist you will get a similar story. It's obviously a scam.

Not necessarily. I've bought and sold vehicles on Craigslist, with no problem. You just make sure they're local, see them in person, and get/pay cash or bank check with title in hand.

There really aren't that many real-life situations where you couldn't either sell the car before moving, or have a friend/family member do it for you. So yes, definitely smells like a scam. And the "free shipping" is another clue: free shipping for a $1500 car? Get real.

I would think so. I didn't use any secret squirrel back channel to check. You, or anybody else for that matter, could call base housing (assumption based on rank and moving for a promotion etc) and they would tell if that person existed/lived there or not. They wouldn't provide personal identifying information (or actual physical address, job title, rank, flight assigned to, etc, etc) and I wouldn't/couldn't have accessed it either. This is how a cell phone company or creditor would verify residency if you had an out of state licence. Pretty common deal for service men and women who bounce around the country. If he were real, this is how Verizon or Sprint would verify his residency to set up his cell phone contract when he moves to Alaska.

I was actually hoping he was real, despite all the red flags, just so I could hook an ecomodder up and help some airman sell his car.

It's a scam. I've come across this same scam template before. They just copy paste different details. Im sure you would've gotten an email that looked like it came from ebay, but was from a different source. They're either the illiterate kind, or like this and have premade templates they send out that sound as though someone actually read and replied back to you.

So I (living in Scotland and not even a US person - did you notice that ?) could call and ask if (for example) "Wayne Smith" lives at such and such base?
