And Riley Howell at UNC Charlotte just changed things for mass shooters. You don't need "a good guy with a gun," you just need a good guy with a level head.

Quote:
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Chief Kerr Putney said Howell ran at the gunman and knocked him off his feet -- something that eventually helped police arrest the suspect.

"You're either going to run, you're going to hide and shield, or you're going to take the fight to the assailant. Having no place to run or hide, he did the last," he said.

Hero right there.

I've got the same reaction, to oppose aggressors with whatever means are available to me at the time.

Well, on Brazil a guy saved other people, when a crazy fan, who was crazy for a blonde model, invaded a hotel room where she and some family members of her were hosted.

The crazy fan shooted some people, and brother in law of the blonde model acted fast and killed hin using the own crazy guy's gun, with about 3 short distance shots on the back of his head.

Guess what... a public procecuter was accusing hin of execution.

https://newsbeezer.com/brazileng/ana...urder-charges/

The family of the crazy guy also want some cash, and went to justice system.

And a "human rights" politicians here said that she thinks police needs to wait get shot until be allowed to open fire against criminals.

Well... I'm not sure if you guys would want to be a hero on Brazil...

While on USA the hero, in a case with a white and a black shooter, would need to manage to stop both shooters or at least stop the white shooter, otherwise would be accused of racism.

Three bullets in the back of the head of someone that has been disarmed (losing the very gun that shot him)... Yup, that's an execution.

No doubt the guy was guilty, but he should have been brought to justice. As you tell it it seems more force was used than needed. So, yeah.

That's why at a point you need professional bodyguards instead of people that can get too emotionally involved like family members.

Professionals

I give the hero the same benefit of the doubt we give police. If he says he feared for the life of anyone in the room, then complete exoneration.

The argument that the guy was subdued doesn't stand up unless he was in handcuffs and had already been searched for more weapons.

I'm all about minimum necessary force, and I'd say using your bare hands in a gunfight is about as minimum as it gets.

Sounds like justice to me.
And discouragement for mass killers seeking their show trial and 15 minutes of fame or deranged people seeking their revenge on society.

I don't think they were in some distance, but more like in a body to body fight, and he got the gun and shot hin fast. If he was already dominated, and stand, then 3 shot in the back would be a execution.

Anyway in the case of a true execution, seconds after you watch the guy shoot some family members... for me it's not a big crime, since you would have a fair reason to be in high rage.
