Lets hope those work. Rear fenders need one more bracket to the 11 a`clock, because now it scoops little air... Bellypan works well no noises at any speeds. The fenders and bellypan have dropped my average consumption to 4,1 litres. Also the engine warms up little bit faster.
The front bumber needs sidewalls to the cooler intake and little bit of finishing touch.
As you can see this weeks mods will be new mirrors and maybe also front tire deflectors if i have time. Last week went on fixing some electrical failures...

Maybe I should be logged on? Or maybe the page is too high tech for my low tech setup?
My brother-in-law drives a Seat Vario, but his is a gasser. I always eye his car wishing I could ecomod it

I can see the pics just fine.
Nice job Vekke! That front bumper is quite a commitment to fuel economy. Hope you don't run into any snowbanks.

Ok, I got them. But funny, b/c my FireFox doesn't see them, neither under Linux nor WinXP. I had to start up the desktop's WinXP to see them. May I have too many adblockers?
Anyway, that is a great grille, bumper and undertray job. How much time did you spend on it, Vekke?

You correct, that EGR can help FE on a throttled engine, but it's only purpose on a diesel is to reduce Nox

I increased the EGR rates at light loads in my car and it helped fuel economy, especially in the winter.

Not completely right, its MAIN purpose is to reduce Nox.
In SAE paper 2005-01-3837 "The Influence of Charge Dilution and Injection Timing on Low-Temperature Diesel Combustion and Emissions" maximum fuel conversion efficiency has been found near 14% O2 concentration, achieved through EGR. Although the paper deals mostly with emissions, there is a small section on efficiency. http://engine.kaist.ac.kr/pdf/SAE2005-01-3837.pdf

I think the front bumber took something like 10-12 hours. Rear fenders 2 hours each. Bellypan around 4 hours. At the moment front bumbers lowest point at front is near 10 cm so I have left there room for lower suspension. Also the taller front tires will lift the nose up...

First tank i done and the consuption was the same with the new bellypan. However the tanks average speed was higher because new 40 kilometers long highway got opened. The fillup was 48 litres and distance was 677.2946 miles or 1090 kilometers that is i think 53.4 mpg.
After that tank i got my right side mirror finished and installed. It took me 3 hours Pictures are coming...
I also put one more bracket to each rear wheel skirt to get the panels enough fastened. That took half an hour each
Also front tire deflectors are in place, and the last this weeks mod is new front wheel hub cabs. Painted in matt black after that photo.

New sidemirror is about 1/3 of the originals size, about same as the original mirror folded.
Next weeks mods in turn will be the other side mirror, rear wheel hubcabs and maybe I will modify the front wheel mudflaps for more aerodynamical look

Little progress from previous post.
I have made the rear wheel hubcaps and also swithed the rear muffler to straight pipe. I think the rear muffler gave me +2-3 mpg so thats a noticeable difference. The exhaust notes are almost the same.

2.2 100-61
9.2 100-56
16.2 100-62
23.2 100-75 truck was 150 meters in front of me, in the end distance was 50 but i was on the other lane when the distance was like 120 meters :/
2.3 100-66
9.3 100-71 Minivan came behind me in the end of the slope :/
