Server maintenance time this AM - finished
Had to apply an upgrade to the forum software this morning. It's done now.
Sometimes these "fixes" introduce new problems. If you see anything wrong with the forum, please let us know.
Thanks!

I don't know if my problem is related to this forum or something else. Could be related to my tired old laptop or a virus or something else.
On several posts that take me some time to compose and edit prior to clicking to post it on a thread, I get a notice that I have to refresh and login again to have the information posted. My log in handle is still there.
Of course when I do that everything I have typed is gone. I am curious if there is a way to prevent this from happening. In some cases 15 or more minutes of typing, reviewing and editing is lost.
It has happened for some time so I know it is not related to anything recent, but it is frustrating to have to retype everything from memory.
regards
Mech

Best insurance is "copy & paste".
There are a couple of simple solutions, and they're in your hands:
A) When you log in, make sure you check the "REMEMBER ME" box. If you don't, you are subject to time-outs for inactivity. (Note: this may not work with some ISP's even if you check that box.)
B) Before submitting a long post: 1) CTRL-A (select all your text) 2) CTRL-C (copy your post to memory) 3) submit.
If your session has timed out, your post is still in memory and you can begin a new reply and press CTRL-V (paste from memory) into the edit form, then submit it immediately.
These keyboard commands assume you're using a PC. Apple commands are similar, but you'll have to look 'em up.

Command (clover shape) + C for copy, and Command + V for paste. I prefer Command + X, which is cut, because I clearly see it worked by the text disappearing.
I hate macintosh. Sadly, if windows 8 is my only option for my next notebook, I may not have an option [other than macintosh].
