Should I Remove My Heat Shield?

So my d15b7 has this heat shield on the exhaust manifold which I guess many engines have. From what I read I gathered that it's meant for lowering under-the-hood temperatures. Which translates to lower intake temperatures. Which in turn translates to more power. I'm thinking I should remove it because as an ecomodder I want higher intake temperatures. I would also save a fraction of a kilogram of weight. My question is are there any downsides to this?

Shorter battery life (assuming battery under the hood), reduced engine power, and increased NOx emissions to name a few. Try it and see if you can notice a difference.

my concern would be 'too hot'.
if you try it and it get's too hot, then you cant reverse the harm done to all the small plastic parts and wiring.

but you are making a false assumption. the 'intake" is not from the engine bay. the intake comes from outside air. Heating up the engine bay to effect the intake is not correct. run a tube into the intake from the manifold.

Belive me, it gets hot enough in the engine bay as it is. adding 10% or 20% more heat will be destructive and not effective.
Hot is hot. Hotter is not better.
