Watching people go spinning down a hill at nothing more then a crawl... yeah...

I'll take max traction over fuel economy anyday!

I've had the same thing happen, 5mph and they are sliding side ways and I want to have the traction to get out of their way!
I also don't like having to push my car to get it out of a parking spot.
the Michelin X-Ice snow tires wear really well, figure I have about 40,000 miles on my current set and like I said, the X-Ice didn't cause a MPG hit and are pretty quite, so what's the draw back?

Colorado winter drivers would agree! I drove soooo many years before finally getting a set of winter specific tires...now I could never go back. i don't think people realize the difference if they have never owned a set of quality winter tires.

Found these today!
Michelin X-ICE (TIRE 155-80-13 QR)

$90 each, they are the same tires I have right now that are wore out, they are not the special LRR rubber compound but they are lower rolling resistance then a lot of snow tires and I don't see my mileage take a hit while driving on them.

Here's something $40/tire cheaper... Firestone*Winterforce

I used these for 3 winters, although mine were studded. Great tire in the snow, their ice traction isn't very good unless you stud them.
