In terms of horsepower, yes. In terms of torque, no. For hauling and towing with a vehicle that's already heavier, more torque at the lower RPM ranges is more useful than higher horsepower at the higher RPM ranges.

This is why truck engines are tailored to have more torque from the OEs and why aftermarket camshaft manufacturers offer "RV" camshafts.

The Ford 302's put into F-150's and Broncos were different than the 302's put into Mustangs and Capri's for that same reason.

Honda put a K24 in both the CR-V and TSX. The bottom ends are near identical. Both have the same torque, but the TSX has a higher redline and breathes enough better at high revs to develop 205hp rather than 160. Who's going to be revving a CR-V over 7000 anyway?
