The fact that you are frustrated with other people's reactions just means you feel strongly about what you are doing. If you feel it's the right thing to do, then give it your all and either ignore the naysayers or use their inability to understand as motive to make yourself better.

EDIT P.P.S. How does hypermiling have anything to do with being "gay," and why does "gay" have such a negative connotation?
|
Words have various meanings that vary with time. Outside of a tiny community of interest, the word used to mean 'happy' and now it means 'lame'. Overall, it's a pretty weak assertion.

It's always cute when the "how far can I throw/hit it" and "how high a score can I get at this game" crowd doesn't see a connection to "how far can I make this car go?"
At least thanks to modern technology, those guys can now pretend they're real men and finally manage to get Bambi.

A nearby municipality has been setting speed limits at 25MPH on rural roads for many years. These are roads that have maybe 10 houses/driveways per mile, rolling through farm fieds, open sightlines. In other words, no reason on earth for a 25MPH speed limit. Other than easy pickings for the local constabulary, who get to hand out tickets for higher amounts over the "speed limit". Better still, they move the signs around to different roads every year or so.
I have a lot of sympathy for people trapped by this outrageous stunt. (No I have not gotten a ticket.)

There was an episode of "Garfield and Friends" where Jon was pulled over for reckless speeding or something. There was a "45 MPH" sign, but right by it, just off of the ground, was a small sign that said "8 MPH," that had been covered by a leaf.
That was outrageous!
Dropping speed limits after sharp corners is also fun.

True enough. I guarantee you "those guys" are the ones driving F-2150's with 40" tires, passing me in the left lane at 75 and blowing clouds of diesel smoke, while I listen to music in the right lane and wonder if they're in the single-digit MPG's or not.
