Look at what the 2nd klan did. They operated with impunity in regards to state and local law enforcement. By day they marched and intimidated. By night they killed people, used violence, destroyed property, arson, explosives, used terrorism in general.
Most importantly, still the same tactics, same political for both 2nd klan and antifa.

Yes and I don't like to admit it but if anything organized racial hate is more toned down than pre-klan straight up blood thursty mob days.
Early though mid 1800 people would pretty much go full purge on the groups they didn't like.
At least the klan had a rule book that they usually stuck to. The mobs just did whatever and it aways went way too far, like it was some kind of contest.
