The presumed stability of COVID19 is why it's possible it could be eradicated. A stable virus allows herd immunity to develop to the point that the rate of spread drops below 1, which is a death sentence for it. That, and it makes creation of a vaccine possible.

It's already changed though. Someone had a second infection, and genetically it was a different strain.

That's as close to no evidence as you can get without it being zero. There's a chance it resists herd immunity and vaccination, but not a good one.

A virus that makes good copies of its self is a dead virus.

When I worked at Symantec they said confidentially that if someone combined polymorphic [virii/worms/trojans] with something else I forget it would be indefendable. Years later Stuxnet was exactly that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aksai_Chin is in contention. Part of Kashmir that China grabbed from India in 1962.

Aksai Chin is almost the size of Bhutan and little smaller than Switzerland. Most of it is in occupation of China, which captured the region during 1950s and consolidated its military grip over the area during the 1962 India-China war, rejecting all Indian attempts to settle border disputes peacefully.
Why did they knock [twice] if they had a no-knock warrant? More people would be alive had they not.

A better question is why they went in the middle of the night rather than just knock during the day, or make an arrest at other known places?

If police have to resort to 3am raids to get a single person, they are a pretty low information outfit.

Nobody cares if someone claims to be the police at 3am as they break down a door and raid the bedroom; you're forcing a violent response regardless of anything.

Was Ruby Ridge and Waco not enough information regarding these tactics to inform us there are better ways?

Anyhow, I don't understand how relatively inconsequential anecdotes get elevated in the media such that we're all wasting our time talking about stuff that practically doesn't matter for us... except when leveraged for political purposes to gin up outrage and division. Shame on media for prostituting themselves when being in the news business should mean having integrity, and shame on us for paying them any attention.

So far, there are 6 strains of it, and the original Wuhan strain is gradually disappearing. That would make the President technically correct (the best kind of correct), and eventually historians will have to dial back their Lie-O-Meter a notch. Luckily, it mutates a lot less than the flu and apparently its mutations are less far apart from each other as well, so a vaccine has a better shot at being right.

Because they're not pretty snowflakes, they're ninjas! Like the NH police chief who got himself killed in 2012 because he just had to get in one last raid before retiring (steroids- let's get out the SWAT gear!). Actual police work isn't as cool as dressing up and pretending you're in a movie, but that's what too many of them want to do. It's not their fault: police academies apparently spend almost 14x as much time on guns and fighting skills than on conflict management.
