Good luck Darin, hope you get some parts out of the new venture or at least make a new friend out of it.

I got sidetracked on my quest to acquire the aforementioned junk... and acquired some different junk today! A 1991 Firefly convertible.
3-pot, 5-cog, mechanically very good. 109,000 km / 68k original miles. Recent top, good engine & trans. Solid control arm mounts, but not insignificant rust in the footwells from convertible top water leaks accumulating puddles. Nothing I can't fix.
800 bucks seemed OK to me!
Despite its original cheeseball "Miami Vice" inspired vinyl graphics package (purple, green, and yes, pink checks & swooshes all over the sides), couldn't resist.
Already been eyeballing the potential lines for a custom aeroshell style hard or soft-top.

Is this the car you're thinking of putting Insight tires on? A Metro-Insight?

Yes - well, a Metro with Insight tires (does that count as a Metro-Insight? ). EDIT - Oh, I get it ... the aero hard/soft-top teardrop comparison.
I may have a line on some decent lightweight (10.5 lb) 14 inch rims that will fit. I'll start a new thread in a day or so after I get some pics with the embarassing decals.

Woo, thanks. Just scouting Bridgestone RE92 (?) OEM Insight tires at the moment (that's not too specific is it? )

Had to throw one in there.

And yes, you'll always get more to fill the extra space. That's just the way it works. It's like Americans with "disposable" income. No matter how many raises most people get, they'll always find a place to spend it.

True, yes.
The first of my friends to get a really good job (pharmacist) made me laugh when he announced: "there's no level of income you can't outspend!" (... and he went on to demonstrate.)

Yeah, you're after Bridgestone Potenza RE92 P165/65R14. Other sizes of RE92 are a different formulation with higher rolling resistance.
I scouted out the used Insight tire market, but I couldn't find anything great for less than $50 a piece. Brand new ones are $77 at Firestone stores, $70 at the one on Harlem in Buffalo.
