It would sure be fun to send that clip to his insurance agent!

They aren't out on the open road. They are driving through a light commercial area and there are intersecting 20 and 30mph streets. You can see she gets into the left TURN lane for Alice Avenue practically right there... hence giving her yet another REASON to be in the left lane, besides that the right lane had traffic in it. The pickup slid sideways through a school crossing painted on the street one block earlier at Estelle Avenue (20 mph residential area). There is a 50 mph limit sign and a bike lane sign at the crash scene as well.

https://www.google.com/maps/@27.8515...pA!2e0!6m1!1e1

At 14 seconds you can see a 55mph sign. At 36 sec you see 56mph on her speedometer. At 43 seconds you can see an entrance merging with the right lane- arguably a reason to be in the left lane, and immediately it all becomes a bridge. At 50 seconds she passes the flatbed- definitely a reason to be left. At 1:02 we see why she couldn't cut in front of the flatbed- there's another truck in front of it. At 1:35 she gets in her left turn lane. In less than 30 seconds she's supposed to go right to let him by then go left to make her turn? I think not. Traction was compromised as she stated- puddles can be seen.

There are many like that guy that pass on the right before the "road hog" gets a chance to move over for them. I've been there, had my signal on to merge right and everything but Mr/Ms Antsypants was willing to swap paint to dart into that hole with only inches to spare so you see, that's how that happens.

Would have been mighty fun to salute him when he was sitting bass-ackwards in the ditch!

P.S. The tool's name is Jeffrey Travis White, 33 years old (physically but not mentally) and his truck is an '08 F250- just look at all the heavy hauling that must be done there. Why, a person could even call him up to congratulate him, or get financial advise since he's been one since age 18??? Did tjts move to Florida??? I'd like to know how much public shaming he gets for this!

Just look at that cleverly hidden rear end damage and license plate:

If it was slippery enough for him to lose control on a straight section of road, even travelling at the signposted speed limit may have been arguably too fast.

Longest post by Frank in all the time I have been on ecomodder! Brilliant observation buddy. You wouldn't be an accident investigator by any chance?

No, I was just incensed by the comments on other sites that were highly critical of the woman driver so I got curious enough about the CONTEXT and CIRCUMSTANCES to research the area with googlemaps street view. I also viewed the clip full screen at the highest resolution and lowest speed.

I think my rant on the Truck Trends K&N filter "article" was longer...

I call drivers like Mr. White brilliant pebbles. A piece of pea gravel for a brain and convinced he is Einstein.

Not to be picky here, but a position based on careful and meticulous observation falls far short of my concept of a "rant".

Actually the George Wiseman Miracle Ford was more recent. Dang, how i wish he hadn't gone on sabbatical from his sabbatical before I could finish my business with him. :/

P.S. It could very well be she was already going 6 over in an effort to appease Mr. Clod; perhaps if I backtracked on streetview I could find where the 50mph zone starts.

You've got to love folks who apply ideal situation, open road rules to high traffic situations- if there's a mess fighting the on and off ramps and I'm passing through, the left lane is the rightmost available lane for me- especially if I need to be in the left lane to get off the road soon. I'm sorry there isn't room in this high traffic for you to do 80 in...

This reminds me of a situation I had last night. I take a 2 lane road home from work. Through town its 45 mph, once out of town it jumps to 55 mph. A black Ford Explorer came up on me in a hurry as I was doing 45 in the 45. They decided not to wait a few hundred feet for the 55 mph sign, so they passed me illegally, through a left turn lane, and swerved back in front of me.

After that little rage incedent they drove the speed limit, 55 mph, for 5 miles until the highway on ramp, I always drive 55 as well, and they never really gained any distance on me.

I think this video demonstrates the severe insecurity and narcissism in our society. People don't really care how fast they are going, as long as they are going faster and looking cooler than everyone else.
