It's spelled "grammar." If you're going to call someone out, at least spell your key word correctly.

I thought about lowering my 04 Civic, but there are too many speed bumps on my commute. If you do want to do this, just get some proper lowering springs. You can get a set to do all four corners for ~$130 and it will save you oh so much pain.

Hey Frank Lee, I'm callin BS on that.
I just rearead the first 4 posts.
Given the lack of info he should have provided(which he provided later) the first 4 posts are acurate info.

Since when do we (posters on EM) just tell some it's ok to do what ever on a first post?
come on!

Cutting springs is NOT a top 10 or 20 item to better fe.
Now if he had told us that he got his clock cleaned on another eco forum where he has 250+ posts, MAYBE I would have gone into more detail on the firat post. But I wouldnt change one comment that I made about cutting springs.
When you can buy a set of compressors for $10 at napa, I'd do that before I'd go hacking on springs.

Rabbit's very first post spells out clearly what he's seeking.

What do you guys think? This thing is already kind of choppy, but it could possibly do okay with a little lowering...
Someone should have said lowering in theory improves fe but in practice the results, if any, are too small to notice.

Additionally, if he already thinks the ride is kind of choppy, lowering it is only going to make it moreso. It doesn't matter if the springs are cut or if aftermarket springs are bought; when a typical car has perhaps 4" of bounce travel and 1"-2" are taken away, it is obvious that the spring rate needs to increase or the bump stops will be hit with some regularity. Progressive rate springs may allow the first wee bit of travel to remain soft but the Piper must be paid and any larger bumps will be harsher yet. The only ways around having higher spring rates are drop spindles with otherwise stock parts, re-hacking the suspension points themselves, running smaller diameter wheels and/or tires, or thinking that having soft rate springs and bouncing off the bumps stops is acceptable.

Then we get into the bought vs cut springs crap yet again, with yet another failure to explain just what it is that makes buying aftermarket springs superior to cutting stock ones (as if it hasn't been clearly refuted already).

The first page of this thread contains little more than pure crap.

It seems to me that every time I see mcrews in a tread, he's an ass to someone. You say that uRabbit was the dick, but when I look at the first page, YOU'RE the one who started being rude first (a la assuming he hasn't read "anything").

I get so tired of this stuff becoming personal. Just because someone is being a smartass doesn't mean you should stoop to their level. I agree that uRabbit said some silly things (the "0 MPH w/ engine off." response, for one), but that doesn't give you a license to be a jackass.

Pawtuckett,
Where to begin......

1. 'everytime' well that would be a slight exageration since at least 130 times someone said thanks. But after 6 months you certainly are a vet.
2. 'Silly' I'm an ass but he was 'silly'.......ok
3. follow along now....Someone suggested adjusting the "nut behind the wheel". THat is a pretty common term here. But according to Frank Lee (the pillar of 'non-grumpy' ) we shouldn't have used it. So when he comes back with 'what nut?' it's clear he didnt want to do any work to get his answer.
Given that he has over 300 posts at another site, He's not a newbee to the whole post process.
4. But let's be clear about your warped ability to pass judgement.
Regardless of the shortness of uor answers (Frank lee feels we should have written more......) at least the answers were in conection with the lower concept. But when a newbee asks about optimal fe on the same car, rabbit gives(by your lack of judgement) a "silly" answer.......right.........
