well after just over 40k miles my 30x 9.5 r15 bridgestone duelers a/t revo's are down to the tread wear indicator.

they seemed to roll at anything under 40 psi, but stuck to the road like glue. and were too soft, i got chunks on them going up a dirt road for about a mile.

now it is time for a replacement. i think i am gonna drop down to a 235/75 r 15 )almost stock (225/75 r15 is stock) but alot more choices.

this time i want a highway tread.
the tire i think i like is a General Grabber HTS

but havnt located them locally yet.

i did stop by sams club and was shown Radial Long Trail T/A by BFGoodrich.

for 440 installed, i have had them before(in a 31x10.50 r 15) but dont remember if i liked them.

i also liked the weird tread on the Fortera by goodyear.

but i dont know about them


i want a tire that is llr "ish" that can fit on my truck, that is driven on highway 99% of the time with no load on it. it also rains quiet abit here.


( if i need to tow or haul i got the 09)

so what are you all opinions? i am open for any tire that is good.

They do come in size 235/75 r 15 , but not rated at 51 PSI max like mine, only 44 PSI.

Take note :

The only problem is that on freeways that are grooved in the direction I am traveling, the car "wiggles", aka the tread tracks into the grooves like a phonograph needle and the car has a noticeable wiggle. I had a feeling this might happen, but no proof until after I bought the tires. Thank goodness my main commute only has this for maybe a mile or two. My wife's new GoodYear Eagle GT's do the same thing to a lesser extent.

The above is a minor annoyance (to me), but I think it would depend on what kind of highways you drive. I don't see grooves all the time. I would get these tires again.

Also, someone told me that you can have high-pressure rated valve stems installed when you get new tires. I think someone who worked at a tire store posted this. If I had known about that, I would have spefically requested it.

Wouldn't going down to a narrower tire help FE quite a bit? Since you are going to run higher pressures a narrow tire won't roll over when cornering hard and will clear water much better than a wider tire.
I've gone to a much narrower snow tire and I haven't found a downside yet except the tires do feel a bit sloppy on dry pavement but I don't mind. If I want sharp handling I can put my autocross tires on during summer....

well a 235 = 9.4, and i had 9.5 so it is not really narrower.

30 tall(old) vs. 29.1(new) tall


so i want something to last. i got my revos on 8/28/06 and put a little over 40k on them, just going to work.

The Green Seal Test showed the Long Trails to have the lowest rolling resistance coefficient of all the 16" truck tires. That is likely true on 15" truck-type tires.

i know i read that, and i think i may go with those, but i was trolling tirerack and found the general tires.

No doubt about it, the Generals are better all-around tires in your size. Have you ever considered Goodyear Eagle SR-As? Yeah, they are car tires, but they are terrific all-around tires.

It really come down to one question: How important is low rolling resistance to you as a parameter of performance?

For fangs-out low rolling resistance in a bigger tire, the Long Trail has to be considered. If other parameters are more important, forget the Long Trail.

i want distance, with good rolling resistance. like i said i drive over 30k a year.

the revos i have now i can fell the drag at anything under 35psi, like i said they were a soft tire also. u could dent them with your finger nail.

well i ended up witl long trail touring, not the radial long trai. not what i exactly wanted but oh well. they seem to ride smoother than the revo's but i hope the height dont hurt my fe.
