Speedometer in rear window

I was wondering what would happen to our streets if we had large accurate speedometers in our back windows.

Imagine knowing from a good distance exactly how fast the people in front of you are driving. You would be able to plot your course carefully/strategically (smart drivers would more save fuel). Also, potential speeders would think twice knowing their speed is being advertised to everyone (thereby increasing safety + increasing reliable flow of traffic).

It could be made voluntary and the increased safety could be rewarded with lower insurance rates. What company wouldn't want to pay lower insurance rates?

What do you think? Would large accurate speedometers in back windows help save fuel?

I wanted to add IQ, so you know who to stay clear of, but don't want to be mean. (high speed + low mpg = low IQ?)

Never thought of that. Interesting. You could probably make it mandatory for people with X number of speeding tickets. Kind of like a "GPS parole anklet".

There are already IQ meters on vehicles!!!

When you see something like this:

or this:

or this:

or especially this:

It is a clear signal that the owner is a moron and should be given extra clearance.

Depends how large. If someone rear-ended you trying to see what it read; that is not saving much

Thinking of the slight transmission drag and extra weight of the cable + gage; it would not seem to be all that much benefit. Not a very common addition so by the time other drivers speed up to figure out what the speedo was doing there, then backing off to 'normal' distance; any fuel savings would be gone.
