Ok never mind. I see that the kid in the video sites 60mph just fine.

My interest in something to boost power is because, like I said, 1 I want to bike that gets at least 100mpg yet I can take into the highway, 2 it's very mountainous here and 3 I live at a very high altitude. Not that I'm overly concerned with going the speed limit but I wouldn't want to be going 15mph up a stretch of 65mph highway.

Buy a used PCX or CBR250R and ride it for a while. The Grom is a fun little toy for riding around a campus town. You are not going to want to take it on any trips. If you are going to ride on super highways, you will need the CBR250R. Or a Forza300. The PCX tops out at 66 mph.

I couldn't agree more. My friend with a Grom mentioned that he doesn't ride his Grom in 55MPH roads because people are doing 60mph and any uphill is a strugle at that speed, too slow. He tops out at 64 in the flats. You can do long trips on it, it will just take time.

I've always driven the speed limit or less (depending on conditions). Yep, everyone else seems to think they have to go at least 5mph over the speed limit. One hill outside of town is 45mph with curves as slow as 30mph. I religiously follow every sign while everyone else seems to just set their cruise control to 50 or 55 mph both up and down the hill.

Of course like you said maybe I won't feel too comfortable on a scooter in that kind of a situation. When I've driven my bus it really doesn't matter to me. And not too much in my little car either. Both drive about the same. Usually I don't have the power to reach 45mph on this hill neither in my bus not in my car. But if I get some jerk in his Hummer on my tail that doesn't like how I can't keep up with the speed limit it might make a huge difference if I'm on a bike. I guess I won't know until I try.

See that's the what gets me right there! I just looked them up on Fuelly and the CBR250R and the Forza300 don't get that much more fuel mileage than my 1985 Golf diesel.

Top speed limit around here is 65mph. The newer PCX 150s supposedly top out at 70mph. My Golf tops out at 75mph on flat ground if I keep it floored. The bus is governed at 65mph.

Most people only go out on their bike whenever they want to burn as much rubber and gas as possible and ride around in 3rd. My lifetime with my CBR250R was 93 mpgUS before I put the tail on it and now is running about 104. My lifetime with the PCX is 99 but they only top out at 66 mph. If a 50% improvement doesn't matter to you, just keep using the diesel. It is a lot easier to just drive a car.

Wow! 104mpg! Now that's what I'm taking about! Yes, the way you drive it really plays an important roll on fuel mileage. Fuelly makes it look like 65mpg is about as good as it gets on those bikes.

Thanks for the enlightening info! Everyone here has really helped me get my head out of the mud. As you can see I really have practically no knowledge nor experience on two wheeled vehicles.

May I repeat that everyone here has helped me a lot so far and I really appreciate it. I still have more research to do as well as budgeting, selling other vehicles and some talking with the wife before I really decide how I'm going to get the two wheeled fuel sipper I'm after. Keep the thoughts coming!

A 50% increase definitely would matter to me. I'm looking to end up with two vehicles. The diesel and perhaps a bike. And if that bike gets 100mpg or better, then definitely a bike.

How do the PCX 150 and the CBR250R perform and compare at a 5% and an 8% uphill grades? Any ideas what top speed would be with let's say, a 200lb driver?
