Seriously, there are some people here that might get offended .
I'm seeing some cars mentioned that some of our members drive .

Here's the one I hate the most. As soon as I see it I can feel my blood pressure rising.

That doesn't mean people have to lie about it ... I don't agree about some of the cars he mentionned but it's still ok for him to voice his opinion on what (to him) is an ugly car!

I hate cube cars (Kia Soul, Scion xB, Nissan Cube, etc...), and when a girl I know bought a Kia Soul I didn't change my opinion or voiced it differently, she knew I didn't like it before she bought one and she hear me say it again AFTER she bought it, doesn't mean I respect her less or anything. She likes it and that's what counts!

In all honesty, I think a lot of economy cars are ' ugly ' because the manufacturers try to target them to young women ( macho men buy pickups right ? )
They style them to look like cartoon cars with ungainly proportions : tiny wheels and huge tall windows .
They then raise the car which draws even more attention to the small wheels which look like spindly legs.

A good example being the first generation Prius, the Echo, late geo metros etc.

And speaking of the Prius, I still have never found that car attractive.

Am I the only one that sees it as too BOXY ? ( the second generation )
Yes ! That's right - boxy. From the side the profile is ok around the windshield to hood , but from the front ? Boxy !

I would speculate that Toyota designed the fist generation Prius to appeal to women, then were surprised to see that men were buying the car too. These men probably fit the stereotype of new adapters that like to be seen, so Toyota designed the 2nd to look totally different from most any car on the road - making it intentionally ' odd' to stand out ( much like the Nissan " Cube " of today )
With sales of the 2nd generation so great, Toyota was surprised . The demographic had changed and now ' average ' people were buying the car - so Toyota started working to ' de ugly ' the car for the 3rd generation.
That's my speculation.

One car that really turns my stomach is the new Camaro.
I had a '69 Camaro, and this new one looks like it was inspired by my old car, but had a committee each throw in something to the cars design.
The car is a design flop I'm my opinion.
The new Challenger on the other hand is almost perfect if it wasn't for the stretched door height .
The new Mustang ? .....that is a beautiful car.

To this day I'm unable to see whatever it is that people find ugly about them. It's a machine that looks like it does what it does, and does what it looks like it does. Like it or not, that's actually a good design practice. Not sexy, but hardly ugly - to me they're like looking at a man; I don't get a special feeling in my pants about 'em but I'm not grossed out just because they exist and they'd probably be useful to help move or go have a beer with.

Oh? I find the combination of half ton axles under a quarter ton boxed chassis, a locking, live rear axle and a proper low range gearbox a pretty decent combination, as out-of-the-box 4x4 vehicles go. Easily every bit as capable as an Xterra or Liberty, etc.

If you don't like 'em, that's cool - you don't have to make up reasons out of thin air. I'm indifferent to their looks though I think it's kinda depressing they've become the de-facto poster child for last decade's excess and really only made up the dust on the surface of that regrettable combination of circumstances.

Those are sweet cars! Ballsy move to throw some swoopy sheet metal over a new platform but I think it's going to age very well. A little 1.6L turbo motor that delivers 30+ mpg and close to 200hp on a bluff-bodied AWD platform too - I'd hit it!

As for cars I find ugly... Chevy SSR is pretty ghastly and what a ridiculous exercise it was? "hey let's make the fastest car we can make that's technically still a truck, on paper" ... yay arbitrary limitations that serve only to handicap the result! it's like a Beetle, a PT Cruiser and a Maloo got jiggy one night and somehow made a 3-way abomination love child. Hey Chevy, you already have a fast 2-seater and it's already better in literally every way. Stick with that.

I thought the Honda Element was a mish-mash of shapes that overpromised and underdelivered. Maybe that's what people disliked about the Aztek, I dunno...

Fourth generation Mustangs look fat to me. Like a sports car that's been hittin' the dingdongs and nutty buddies pretty hard in the off season. No thanks.

Effing Rolls Royce Phantoms these days.... got these big bold share lines like "This Is Elegance In Physical Form" or whatever right? And then these abortions as headlights. Ew.

Sorry, the Aztek is not just ugly, it's fugly. Might be utilitarian and well designed, but it stands out of the crowd with it's ugliness. There are a huge number of cars that do absolutely nothing for me but they also don't stand out with their ugliness the same way the Aztek does. This one is a two-kegger, no doubt! I'm OK if someone else likes the look (or can stand the look, as the case may be), but I definitely do not.

Another one is the Smart ForTwo. I get that the point of the car is to be shorter than most anything else on the road, but the proportions are all wrong.

IMO, the first generation Insight is a masterpiece, I massively dislike the new one tho but not for the look. Honda Civic, Geo Metro and Toyota Prius are amazing cars to me! Cannot understand what you find ugly in those cars.

Cars that I fing ugly... let say :
All Hummers, Old and new Fiat 500, VW Beetle old & new, Smart Fortwo, all MINI, All Pickups & SUV.

I see your Pontiac Aztek, and raise you a Dodge Aztek!

Okay, it's actually a Dakota, but it's about as fugly as an Aztek.

While I was in Europe, I saw waaaaay too many of these things.
