He is/was using lousy old tires....

This very aero car expends about half its energy overcoming rolling resistance at 60mph. If the Crr is only known to within 20%, the Cd can not be known in any meaningful way. For Crr=.006, Cd=.194 For Crr=.008, Cd=.151 For Crr=.010, Cd=.109
One of the details that I forget if I have already mentioned: Dave said that he was/is using lousy old tires that he just had laying around -- they are somewhat out of round, and not particularly true, either. So, I'm leaning towards the Cd = 0.109 end of the range!

I particularly liked the custom front bumper/air dam/splitter the video shows. He figures it was good for a 5% improvement in efficiency. That white Metro.... I wonder if it's the same white Metro that he later chopped into his NEDRA drag car with ETEK driven rear wheels... (Jump to 1:45 to see the actual run) ... and which he later used as the basis for the Dolphin, judging by the pre-paint photos. __________________ Latest mods: 3-cylinder Mitsubishi Mirage. My avatar is a hand drawing of a three wheeler I want to build. Kind of on hold for now.
