Thanks to everyone who posted the videos. I think its sad that someone can build a more efficient vehicle and cheaper then what you can buy new.

200 mi on used lead is great. He needs to lithium in that bad boy (and decent tires, moon eyes, etc.) and go for 500 mi.

I agree.
I would love to see the Dolphin in person. And I have been meaning to try and model it in SketchUp.

Dave Cloud is going to try to get some orthographic photos of the Dolphin, and send them to me (I'll post 'em!), and I will try to model the car.
Meanwhile, here is a link to some photos of Dave Cloud's newest Electrathon vehicle, which will go 60 miles in one hour using 70 pound of lead acid batteries (on 1000 Wh).
New Electrathon design -

the new car design is likely very superior to his metro converson.
But the Metro conversion we're all swooning over seems much more usable than what appears to be a ultra high efficiency experiment. While we may generally only use a small fraction of the available space of a sedan when only the driver is in the car, havingthe extra space just in case is convenient.
For a while the only vehicle I had available to me was a motorcycle with a large milk crate strapped on. While it may have been efficient, it was hard to bring home groceries on it, and I certainly couldn't take the family anywhere.

The link title should have been Electrathon -- that vehicle is for competition only.

That looked like a car that they use only on some track on contest/economy race?
If that does not need so much clearance on tires it would recude the drag even more. Cars like that the biggest gains come from the wheels and they should be covered as much as possible. I mean the part of the tire which is under the fairing visible at the moment.

That's right, Vekke. Electrathon racers are 1-person machines for track competition. (Usuallly oval track endurance economy competitions.)
