used motor oil

With an exquisite, cut-glass bottle and labeling you might market it for $600/ounce at some Paris specialty boutique along the Champs-e'Elys'ees.
It's all in the marketing.
We vacuum mosquitos on the fly, blend into a paste, and export to Michelin 5-Star-rated restaurants as a private-label designer pate from North Texas. It complements our full line of pre-masticated caviar.

I remember seeing a neighbor actually doing it in '95, but back then most of the motor oil still used in my country was mineral. Not sure how synthetic oil may fare.

If you stop the insects and rot organisims from getting nourishment or water from the wood, it doesn't rot.

My understanding is synthetic oil has similar characteristics as conventional oil, just processes differently. Might even be a conventional feed stock

Sometimes there might be a better use, such as treating wood at a lower price than using some specialized products.

But anyway, sometimes I see people complaining about certain cars consuming much oil, to the point it's easier to just refill the oil at a specific mileage instead of changing it.

Past reporting claimed that all synthetic oils use conventional oil as its feedstock.
They are a 'designer' long-chain molecule, and their tour de force is that they are 'ashless' when exposed to pretty horrific operating temperature, something which is the undoing of 'normal' organically-based stock.
