No slip at this point. In fact, there are no problems really to speak of with the clutch. The clutch is nearing the top of the travel so there can't be much material left on the clutch.

MPG comparison

Hydrojim- Been following your project the last few months, you have made real progress! When you find time to take some data we would love to see a final speed vs mpg chart.

I have a stock 5 speed 2005 Focus ZX3. Average MPG the last 8000 miles has been a hair under 38mpg with a tank high of 40.93mpg. A speed vs MPG chart is attached using long trip highway speeds (not instantaneous).

Can't wait to see what all the aero mods can do to the focus!

Rims

My focus rims are just like yours. Have you ever thought about doing something like shown in the attachment to your rims? (That was done in photoshop)
I was thinking it could be done by filling them in with liquid foam and then sanding it and painting to match. I attempted it but the foam I got ended up too soft when it dried.

Finally finding the time to post the data from my trip. So here it is:

My Trip Parameters:
I weigh 180 lbs
my sister weighs 145 lbs
We had 300 lbs of tools and cargo
No driving Technique was used. Just straight cruising all the way through.

Cleveland, OH to Clarksville, TN
Total Load: 625 lbs
Average Temperature: 45.7 degrees
4.007 gallon mid-way addition
8.478 gallon fill-up at end
*Total gallons: 12.285
Distance: 548.8 Miles
Average Speed: 66 MPH(3 rest/stretch/restroom/food stops)
Net Elevation Change: -409ft
Trip Notes: very hilly. Slight traffic near Columbus and Cincinnati. About 3 hours with headlights on.

MPG: 44.67 MPG

*Not sure how accurate my method was, but I stopped for gas half way on the way down because it didn't seem like I was going to make it, so I added those gallons to my final gallons.

Clarksville, TN to Cleveland, OH
Total Load: 635 lbs(got to add in that Thanksgiving Dinner )
Average Temperature: 52.3 degrees
Total Gallons:11.301 gallons
Distance: 533.7 Miles
Average Speed: 63 MPH(4 rest/stretch/restroom/food stops)
Net Elevation Change: +409ft
Trip Notes: very hilly. Bad traffic outside of Cincinnati. About 4 hours with headlights on.

*removed Ford Focus intake snorkel for about 20 degrees warmer IAT.

MPG: 47.23 MPG

Add a $25 cone filter for ~a 2 mpg gain?

http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ord-22437.html

Read the details...you want the bellmouth shape inside the filter.

Yes its wise to put sticker that tell people what the car is all about. You have much less pull overs from police officers as well.

Do they salt the roads in winter or is Focus just so easy to rust?

The hydraulic clutches in the focus will release where they want reagardless of wear. Mine's always released near the top since it was brand new.

ive got the split port SOHC it has a max tourque of 3,750 where the Zetecs have it at 4,500
thus the SPIs have a deeper geard set up.

final is 3.61 or 3.85?
O\D is about 25%
its a IB5 trans thats with the spi, but i don't think it would bolt up to a Zetec

keep on the look out for a under drive pulley, the common one is for the crank. but there's also a alt and water pump one.
new there rather spend-y so keep on the look out for used ones.

1993 sidekick my MPG toy, epa rating 26.

The SOHC has the 3.61. The Zetec uses the MTX75 with 3.85 FD.
