Just installed my newly arrived Ultra Gauge last night and went for a casual spin... the intake temp was 107 with the prototype temporary WAI I made a few tanks ago. Maybe not satisfactory, but it was 8pm. I'll see what the day brings. BTW, anyone have design suggestions. My "avatar" photo is of the temporary WAI. Ideas?

check out where the stock intake would get it's air from, i know my jeep picks it up right in front of the air box between the hood and grill. if that opening is still there it will allow more "cold" air into the engine bay. i'll be blocking mine off this weekend to help raise my intake temp

I'll be working on one eventually myself with an 03 Focus. I'd say the closer your intake port is to the exhaust...the warmer the IAT will be? With the Focus I COULD cut a hole in the shield over the exhaust header and pull air in from there...but it might melt the plastic intake tubing? The OEM intake on the Focus draws in ambient air...period.

Thanks for these replies. Yesterday it was 91 degrees here, and the IAT went up to 127. But then this morning, with a temp probably in the 50s, IAT hovered around 93. I'll have to look into the ideas you all are recommending. Clearly my current design does not produce consistent enough temps. I would like a design that consistently gives me something in the 120s. Then I want to "ABA" test it with this new Ultra Gauge gizmo I am calibrating. Thanks!!
