I've always wondered if you could get something like this to replace the intercooler in a diesel truck giving it quicker response from spool up?!?

Even though it's possible to use water injection as a replacement for a conventional intercooler, that's not exactly the best approach.

Also, so that you don't have to waste money on a pump that just takes power from the alternator, take a 4 inch pipe that will hold the amount of water you need(or 6 inch if you need to!) and pressurise the system with compressed air. If you only need around 50-60psi then having a 5-10 gallon storage tank should be more then enough!!

We think alike. I don't have an on board compressor yet, but always planned for one. The water to air intercooler I have planned is less than 20% the volume of the stock ic with all its piping. That should dramatically decrease spoolup time.

You could use a much smaller reservoir and one of those tire inflation pumps. If you have to inflate your tires, you will have it ready.

I had thought about the same thing before. I have some scuba equipment and they would nicely pressurize the water.

I once tried a tire inflation pump.

A bike pump is faster.

Maybe supplying some air from the turbocharger's wastegate valve?

I have been working again on my system. I made up an aluminium frame this time and am trying to get the design a bit organised.

A 100psi pump is what I used.

I think it would send too much water if it is unrestricted - depends how fast you are driving though. You will need to add some valves to restrict flow.

I will add the electronics and cover on but that's roughly what I did for the pump and nozzle side.

I was also wondering if I'd risk hurting something if I put two injectors in the intake for water wired inline with the actual fuel injectors at opposite firing points, or would I run the risk of blowing something??
