When I swapped a 350 into a 4x4 s-10, tranny shop gave me enough for the 2.8v6 700r4 to cover his rebuild & shift kit into my 350TH. Later replaced with a 700R4 and sold him the 350TH for a third the cost of the rebuilt & shift kit v8-700r4. Just saying your tranny might be even up trade or close to for a fresh 700r4.

Yes and no. The diesel converters are 6 bolt not 3 bolt like the gas engine's converter, but they will bolt up.
Guys over on dieselplace.com claim to run gasoline truck transmissions.
I have the lowest stall torque converter GM makes, that could play a part in FE.
The 4x4 gas trucks tend to have higher/highest stall converters from the factory, camaro guys use them to do a dirt cheap higher stall convert mod.

As far as rear gears most 4x4s had 3.42 or higher numbered rear gears. The higher the number the worse your FE will be.
I run a 3.08 rear and have been considering a 2.93 or 2.83 gear swap.

My perminant solution for the check engine light in this case would be to pull the bulb.

I will run a 4'' straight pipe after the turbo goes on.
I ran my freshly built engine with no manifolds and it wasn't as loud as I thought it would be.

So I do not need to replace my torque converter? Or my flex plate? What needs to be replaced. Besides the engine?

You will need to use the diesel flex plate for sure, it should come with the engine.

Will my check engine light even work without the computer in my engine to dictate when it needs to turn on? Because when i take out my tbi 350 and the computer with it then putting in that 6.2L mechanical diesel would mean that there would be no computer in the vehicle anymore right? Other than the cruise control module. There would no longer be any computer to turn that light on right?

And on another note, if I do buy another vehicle with the 6.2 and the 700r4 it will have everything i need to link it to my 4l60e?

to run your 4l60e you need an ECU. To run the ECU, you need a 350 engine.

I don't think a 700r4 will hold up to even a POS chevy 6.2 or 6.5.

If you put the right parts in a 700r4 they hold up just fine. I have 4.56 gears and I tow a10,000 lb travel trailer in overdrive all the time. You just have to pick your gear on hills, don't let it hunt between gears and keep the convertor locked.
