2.8v6 700r4 blew up on me hunting for a gear, cruise on at 65, hit tiny rise so it had to down shift, it missed drive, went to redline, then grabbed drive and tore a band. They've come along way since 83. The shift kit'd one behind the 350 was great, a little tire squak everytime it hit second, no more down shifting unless I wanted to haul butt.

I just have a big trans cooler up front, and soon I will have a larger +2qt pan.
I also tightened the the T/V cable 1 notch for towing and never put it back to normal, I don't need soft cushy shifts.

So your saying that even with a transmission controller i still wouldn't be able to control my transmission? How exactly would that help? Would I be able to still re-adjust the shift points? How exactly does that work?

If you stay with a L460E it will be best if you get a shift controller.
If you go simpler and cheaper with the TH700R4 there is no computer, other than controlling the converter lockup.

Any idea on what kind of trans controller or shift controller would I need? Why would doing this be more difficult than replacing my entire transmission? I would think that just putting the trans controller on the transmission that i have now would be easier. than trying to put an entire new one in there.

As long as you don't do anything dumb a TH700R4 or L460E will do fine.
You want the big transmission cooler. You can buy them off the shelf from Uhaul and advanced auto.
I think keeping the 4L60E would be a little more expensive than going TH700R4, but it will be easier to do. The TH700R4 will need shifting linkages and stuff.

Well now after a while of searching the Internet and doing extensive research. I've concluded that I want to buy a used or remanufactured/rebuilt 6.2. I was considering one from either Used Auto Parts, Used Engines, Transmissions | QualityAutoParts.com or Buy Remanufactured Engines For Sale| Remanufactured Motors for sale | Rebuilt Engines For Sale however reguardles of where I buy it I will need a transmission controller. Which after more research I concluded that one from The OptiShift Transmission Control System would be the best choice given the manual shifting option. Allowing me to use my 4l60e as basically a 4 speed clutch less manual transmission. And it's half the cost of other controllers. Any advice of a place where I could buy a 6.2 would be much appreciated. I am on a tight budget so price is an issue. It must be a J vin code block non military model. Preffebly one from*the 90's. Any help or guidence is appreciated.
