What's everyone's background

Now long retired, I spent my working career in technical publications where I was fortunate to have written in about twenty different disciplines from auto parts, to assembly instructions, to oil-water recovery systems. I ended up managing tech publishing departments.
Now being somewhat handicapped, I am interested in building both an electric mobility scooter and a three-wheeled electric motorcycle for starts.

Nah, we use a computer to send the signal ( command ) these days !
BITD it was fun to see the new guy try to light it and run far enough away that his hair didn't get singed while hi-tailing it off the pad ! LOL !!

Sorry, my whip is only 102 inches but it only talks slightly better than the 30" fiberglass Hustler on the other car. I'm pretty sure the Cobra 200 will talk just fine on a clear day

Ive been an American Trucker since I was 17 and will always be one. Hazards of growing up in a camping family. At least ½ of everything in me garage says Coleman on it lol. I helped my father take the old Merc 390 down to the block when I was 8 and there was something about getting all grimy and gooey that told me I'd be a grease monkey for life. I don't know what it is about V8's and the great out doors. Using a man made contraption to get as far away from your fellow man as possible is quite an irony.

I'm not sure how I'm gonna get black and icky on an electric motor... guess I'll have to save that for wheel bearings and diff changes lmao!

I was in law enforcement for a couple years way back when and decided that was not my cup of anything, let alone tea. I've also owned a couple small businesses that lasted 3 years each and I'm trying to start another one now. I'm much happier working with my hands.

I love firearms and other ordinance. My fav book is "Back Yard Ballistics" !! You can have my gun when you pry it from the gun rack in the back window of my electric t-bucket hahaha.

I'm a Regan Republican and proud of it. I'm not fond of any Republican since, probably why I switched to Libertarian in 1988. I'm fiscally conservative ~ socially liberal. I believe the movie Skulls has it correct, the right and left is in bed together and that's all I'm gonna say on that.

I'm here to have fun and share what I know as well as pick ya'lls brains. I was in a trade school with a GM engineer as a professor, another class was taught by an International Truck Co. Electrical Engineer, so I know just enough to get me in trouble around here

Looking forward to the banter!

My handle is Chet, my nick is Grape Ape... see all yu camels in the threads...

that was a needle joke

Well let's see... My background is that I grew up my whole life thinking that being a Christian was about going to church and being good, and believing the Bible was true in my mind (but not living by faith through my actions). About four years ago my life was changed when I realized that faith is not about ideas in my mind or hollow actions, but about living it. So, I've lived for Christ ever since then and seen some really cool things happen in my life.

I've always had a knack for music. I'm not terribly gifted in any particular instrument, but I just feel music in my bones. I did well in it through high school, and am about to finish a BA in music at my university. I can play trumpet, and steel pans, and sing a bit. I've also learned a few other little instruments here and there.

I speak English and Spanish (well enough), and I enjoy learning languages and traveling. So far I've been to Canada, France, Mali, and Peru.

I've owned two cars:
'89 Honda Accord LXi Coupe MT (31-32 MPG consistently)
'98 Honda Civic DX Hatchback MT (33.5 MPG average right now)

I quit playing videogames about a year and a half ago, so now I need a new hobby. I think ecomodding will do the job.

JMac
