That diamond-seating layout is interesting to say the least but, unless the vehicle is a trike, I guess it wouldn't be so easy to have it certified here in Brazil due to the centrally-mounted cockpit. Well, some transit buses in São Paulo have a mid-mounted cockpit, but that was a very specific circumstance.

The 4 wheel diamond allows for mid wheel drive with front and rear wheel steering, and the ability to turn in it's own length. but at speed, with the rear swinging out in a turn, stability is touchy.
The other option is rear wheel drive with front and mid wheel steering. this is more stable, but the Ackermann steering geometry on three wheels is more complex, narrows usable cabin space, and cuts drive traction in half. The only possible advantage I can see is the more gradual spread of the air mass when moving through it.

Sorry, but with the diamond I see the width of three seats instead of two.
I presume you were concerned about the rounded shape of the top hitting the heads in the direction ol lenght of vehicle's body.

But this configuration creats needs to expand the width of the vehicle, and maybe alter dra coefficient.

The pant of the wheel it's connected to the vehicle's body. Unless it get like APtera front wheel. If you cut it, it would not possible to it to turn, since it would face the car's body as a barrier .

Loads of leg- and elbow-room.

My preferred solution for full wheel pants would be a secondary steering arm that would turn the pant half as much as the wheel.

"Tail-guner' is a colloquialism for the 3rd rear-facing seat in a station wagon.

Thank you, it look interesting. I imagined a configuration similar to this, but for the Morelli's shape it can't fit.

I've been considering to make an all-open tricycle, but wouldn't disconsider to make something analogue to the mother-in-law seat. At least could keep a dry storage space for luggage while not having to carry any passenger.

I've always wanted to see a VW Beetle with the roof cut off, with a wooden barrel-back aft deck like a Chris-Craft speedboat with a single seat under a hatch.
