Yessir, let me add my thanks to the forum moderators as well as the folks who have actually gone to the effort to modify their vehicles and share the results with the rest of us.

At this time, I'm disappointed to say, I am not truly an ecomodder, as I have not made any physical alterations to my vehicle. I plan to at some point in time, but talk is cheap. I have altered my driving style and my car rewards me with much better than EPA fuel economy.

Ya done good! Results are what count. Now maybe for some light mods - tire pressure, maybe flat wheel covers, maybe some grill blocking if you have a ScanGauge or other digital display of engine temp.

We don't convert diesels into MPGd, so why the electrics ?

As NeilBlanchard said, using WH/Mile would be a better metric.

For vehicles running on E85, this issue is also a question. And hybrids get really complicated.

I think that until we get a better way to compare vehicles that are powered by disparate energy sources, we have to continue to use MPGe. But within one energy source, it is also helpful to use the "native" unit of energy per mile, or miles per unit of energy.

Agreed. I would also include energy requirements for every 30 miles and maybe label that as a daily average? I'm not sure yet. Most people don't really know how to use their MPG and other efficiency figures, they just compare that of different cars, and nothing more.
