World's fastest EV motorcycle

White Motorcycle Concepts WMC has the most unique aerodynamic solution to break the world land speed record for an electric semi-streamlined motorcycle. Designed to reach 250+ mph/402+ kmh , because of a 69% reduction in drag in a typical faired-body motorcycle design.
Top speeds are always about aerodynamic drag, always needing more power needed to overcome that wall. WMC 250 EV bodywork has been laser-scanned and designed around a leather-cladded rider in an extreme racing crouch. The rider is straddling on top of a carbon fiber Venturi tunnel, running throughout the whole length of the motorcycle. Their wind tunnel sculpting and tuning, punches the air with a drag coefficient of 0.118! All of the suspension, electric motors and batteries are jammed under the tunnel and in between the wheelbase. Front wheel is powered by two 20 kW motors on each side & hydraulic hub-steered and the rear wheel is chain-driven by two 30 kW electric motors. The battery is 15 kWh pack because it also has two-wheeled regenerative braking. Their record attempt will be in the Bolivian salt flats in 2022.

They have patented their 'V-Air' Big-Hole motorcycle aero technology for street use!

rider's streamlined head

From one view to another I noticed a difference in the gap behind the rider's helmet and sewn-on jacket head fairing.
It also appears that, the rider has no visibility when the head is tucked in for lowest drag.

That's really interesting. People ask if you could duct stagnation point air the length of a car. This shows the scale of the issue.

Thanks for sharing this botsapper. I was a pretty hard core motorcycle commuter many years ago. I noticed the unique foot position and realized that being an electric bike removes the need for foot controls. Throttle and both brakes could be done on the handlebars like a scooter.

Thanks, Amazing. EV West has a couple 230+ mph LSR records for their electraliner lakester body (close to a streamlined form but not quite. This is the future. Love the Venturi design!

There seems be more fine-tuning opportunities on the rider suit smoothness integrating to a soft conformal 'speedster hump' at the rider's tail. Anyway, removing the direct mechanical connections and using hydraulics is a simple yet elegant solution - 'Riding the Venturi' for street use!

Luigi Stipa had Caproni build him a flying Venturi tube. Everyone laughed by his studies but it influenced later turbofan jet engine designs.

I stumbled upon the Stipa Caproni today. I found this video which provides some background.

I was thoroughly interesting right up until the narrator called Viktor Schauberger a crackpot.

It mentions French interest before the Australian 3/5ths replica. Perhaps that accounts for the French interest in the Coleopter
Quote:
Coleopter

A coleopter is a type of VTOL aircraft design that uses a ducted fan as the primary fuselage of the entire aircraft. Generally they appear to be a large barrel-like extension at the rear, with a small cockpit area suspended above it. Coleopters are generally designed as tail-sitters.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleopter

Here's another French oddity:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leduc_0.10

This one, instead of a ducted fan is a ram jet. Some possibility for an electric/ram jet hybrid bike?
