I got most of the wiring done except for the side markers lights and the extra brake light because those have to be done later when I get the window and some skin on.

It's a little sloppy, but it works and that's all that counts.

I ran into a little problem because on the Ford Focus, the tail lights bulb only has 3 wires which means the STOP/TURN function share the same wire. Since I decided to have independent turn signal lights, I can't use a signal with a STOP function because all brake lights have to be red not amber. I plan on tapping into the signal under the dashboard near the steering column.

see if your car has a trailer adapter kit, that should separate out what your need.

If the wire doesn't work, you'll have to change the amber lights to red. I wonder if you could tie into the front turn signal wires.

There is a trailer kit, but it's $60 and still doesn't give an independent signal for the turn signal.

Look's like I'll have to change it to "One of the only 16 year olds in the world interested in ecomodding."

My first consideration was to tie into the front turn signal wires, but I'm not sure how I could get the wires to the back of the car very easily.

If anyone has any ideas on how to do that, let me know. All of my interior from the front seats back is removed so I'm not really worried about looks.

Run the wires under the carpeting. If you have an electrical diagram, you can probably pick out the wires by color under the dash.

Finally finished up the wiring for the most part. All the lights are operational and everything outside of the hatch is in place. Inside the car I have some finish work to do, but I'm happy with the way this came out.

Instead of finding the wire under the steering column as planned, I ran wires straight to the front turn signals. The reason I didn't is because my chilton manual said the wire was green w/ yellow and when I got under the dash, I found 6 green w/ yellow wires and couldn't find my 12v test light to make sure I had the right one. I may switch it in the future because the way I ran the wires out of the engine compartment isn't the best and I'm worried the wires may snag or chaff causing a short. For now though, it's good. I'll have some more pics of the installation up tomorrow.

Now that I've got the wiring issue worked out, It's time to finally get to the window and coroplast skin. There should be a lot of progress tomorrow.

I got the window on this morning. I used very thin acrylic because it was the cheapest thing at Home Depot in the right size. I may switch it out in the future because there were a few cracks and I assume they'll get worse in the weather.

I also finished most of the left side of the coroplast skin. I'm having a little problem with the gap between the body and the hatch, so I'll have to come up with something for that.

everything would have been so much simpler if I didn't go for functionality of the hatch...
