The Bolsheviks had to fight off the Western forces who sided with the White Army in an attempt to overrun them after the first World War. That did not go down well.

They're not nice guys by any measure, but there's logic to their ways.

It's hard to know what happened before I was born in rural Oregon, but my sense is that there was some cowboy military guy in Poland with armies massing on both his borders, with England prompting him to do something stupid. Which he did.

Not that much has changed, just fewer public executions now you really have to screw up to get shot in front of everyone. At any given time they are 1 or 2 people away from a massive purge that will make the third Reich look like a mean prank.

Over here,we just have 30,000 private,self-induced executions/year.

The USA is not party to any agreement to destroy all weapons grade material. However, Surplus material can be destroyed by using it as fuel in a power plant.
