So there's something to think about before any of you guys jump into the EV market
Virtually every dealer nationwide has fired all full time mechanics.

As an FYI, it might suck a long time after this.

A great time to be able to work on your own car.

Well, guess I'll end up checking it out on my own at some point. Sounded like the repair was the GM version of flex seal and duct tape anyway, so if I can find it I'm sure I can fix it

Almost makes me miss my old Festiva, now that was easy to work on!

Ruby gets decent gas mileage even when I don't plug it in

They were testing hearing this week in the shop and the van that comes in has to use my plug (it blows the breaker if we both try to use it) so I drove on gas most of the week

Probably time to just go ahead and burn through the gas and fill up again to keep it fresh

Volts are great cars. Test drove a Gen1 once at a Chevy dealer when we were thinking hard about letting go of my wife's Forester. Great fun car. How many months without buying gas do you normally go? As someone commented to MetroMPG, how many gallons per month do you burn?

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

I drive the Volt 38 miles a day and charge it for free at work, and I normally only put it in hold mode (which fires up the ICE) for half of a commute at least once a month just to keep the engine fluids circulated.

That's the only gas I burn normally, so other than when I can't plug in like this week I burn less than half a gallon a month

Between both of my Volts over the last 4 years I've only gone to the gas station 5 or 6 times.

I must be down to like 6 gal/month. That's a cool way to think about it

Ruby's still alive and kicking - I'm just too lazy (and busy) to keep up with the fuel log or post much these days

This is the optimal weather for the Volt, I tend to get the best MPGE this time of year down here in Florida

Fantastic.

If buying again today, do you think you'd go for a Volt again, or an alternative like an Ioniq PHEV or Clarity?
