Did the car sit unused for an extended period of time, allowing the battery to go flat? The Owner's Manual says, "Drive your car every month for about 30 minutes. This will keep the IMA battery charged and in good condition."

My Civic 2004 battery was dead, I plan to replace it. I saw some sellers on Ebay, the best offers listed on Ebay is USD1650 including shipping. Anyone here has experience to deal with the seller on Ebay?

unless it is an TESTED ORIGINAL OEM battery i would stay away.

Check on insight central for a decent, albeit expensive battery and for legit OEM batteries.

OR find one at your local junkyard and get a charger to test and repair.

What is a good amount of time to let a freshly charged subpack sit before performing a self discharge test? Forgive me if this has been answered in this thread already but I wasn't able to find it.

Bumblebee battery on insightcentral.net makes a great 8ah battery that is better than any OEM Honda can come up with. They are made from the same batteries source Honda used! plus 13 years worth of NiMh tech advancements. In fact, I think Honda has bought from him on the rare occasion they haven't figured out a way to weasel out of warranty claims. In addition, it offers more than a third more usable capacity than the original (5.5Ah versus 4). There are a few others that do good work too, and all use the same battery source. In this case, stay away from Honda. They will stick you with an overpriced and/or refurbished pack.

New to your forum, similar issues

Hello everyone. I am new here. I have read this entire thread, as well as a few others. Hoping someone, anyone can assist/inform me.

My car is a 06 Accord Hybrid. I have the dreaded IMA light, and I have known for a while my batteries were on the way out.

I just purchased a complete battery setup from a salvage yard with 6 months warranty. I have not received it yet, but it looks like it's the entire thing, electronics etc, not just the battery box with the sticks.

When I receive it, I want to test the cells, and start doing like you guys have been doing, charging, discharging etc. to hopefully make sure I can have a good pack. If done right, I'll be able to then swap out with the pack in my car, and do it again to those.

For the life of me, I cannot locate any specs on the Accord battery pack. I have heard from some people that the actual cells and sticks, are all the same but I can not, again, locate any actual information online. Therefore, when I get my delivery, I don't know what settings I will need to use to start charging the cells etc. I would try to build a grid charger based on what has been shown on this thread but again, without even knowing what the maximum voltages should be, rates of discharge etc etc, I am going to be at a standstill. I wish I could have just afforded to get a pack from bumblebee but, I can't afford to. I have to do the lowly thing and try to get the one I just purchased and then the one in my car up to speed.

So much good information in your forum for insights etc, so sad that I can't find something similar for the 7th generation accord hybrids.

I think it's a safe bet that nobody has any experience with the Accord packs.

Have you checked at InsightCentral.net? That's a good hub of pack DIY activity.
